Houmongi

Houmongi – Visiting Kimono

Houmongi are mainly kimono made of plain white fabric upon which prints or patterns are added. We recognize them by this distinctive complex asymetrical ”painting-looking pattern” covering the kimono from the hem, passing by the sleeve and ending on the torso. It can be wear by friends and non-relatives persons during weddings, school entrance ceremony and graduation ceremony. The Houmongi is one of the most versatile kimono and can be seen in various celebrations. It is usually combined to the fukuro-obi or an higher level of obi depending the occasion.
