Colors have an amazing power of reinforcement and influence on our behaviors and attitudes. It also says a lot about one’s personality.

Let’s see by taking a look at the short descriptions below listing both pro and cons regarding each shade of the spectrum. (Because life is not only about cute cats and strawberry printed stuff, we decided to be objective by presenting both positive and negative aspects.)

★ RED ★

Red is a powerful warm and sensual color. It’s also the right shade to stimulate some action, gather the courage to act or express leadership.

Positive side: love, leadership, sensuality, luck, action, energy and speed, attention-getting, assertive and confident, energizing, stimulating, exciting, powerful, passionate, stimulating and driven, courageous and strong, spontaneous and determined

Negative side:  aggressive and domineering, over-bearing, tiring, angry and quick-tempered, ruthless, fearful and intolerant, rebellious and obstinate, resentful, violent and brutal

★ ORANGE ★ ＆ ★ YELLOW ★

Orange is a bright and cheerful color! It expresses happiness and friendship. An interesting combination of the physical strength of the red and the optimism of yellow! 

Positive side: sociable, optimistic, enthusiastic, cheerful, self-confident, independent, flamboyant, extroverted and uninhibited, adventurous, the risk-taker, creative flair, warm-hearted, agreeable and informal

Negative side: superficial and insincere, dependent, overbearing, self-indulgent, the exhibitionist, pessimistic, inexpensive, unsociable, and overly proud

Yellow is a very optimistic and shiny color. It’s also the color of intellect, logic and every cerebral aspect of one’s personality!

Positive side: optimism, cheerfulness, enthusiasm, fun, good-humored, confidence, originality, creativity, challenging, academic and analytical, wisdom and logic

Green is the color of nature; green is probably the most relaxing color in the universe!! It represents the perfect balance between the heart and the head, growth, harmony, peace and vitality.

Positive side: growth and vitality, renewal and restoration, self-reliance, reliability and dependability, being tactful, emotionally balanced and calm, nature lover and family oriented, practical and down to earth, sympathetic, compassionate and nurturing, generous, kind and loyal with a high moral sense, adaptable, encourages ‘social joining’ of clubs and other groups, a need to belong

Negative side: being possessive and materialistic, indifferent and over-cautious, envious, selfish, greedy and miserly, devious with money, inconsiderate, inexperienced, a hypochondriac and a do-gooder

★ BLUE ★ ＆ ★ TURQUOISE ★

Blue is the color of trust and responsibility. It’s the incarnation of sincerity, reserved and loyalty. Compared to red it’s quiet and prefers thinking rather than acting.

Positive side: loyalty, trust and integrity, tactful, reliability and responsibility, conservatism and perseverance, caring and concern, idealistic and orderly, authority, devotion and contemplation, peaceful and calm

Negative side: being rigid, deceitful and spiteful, depressed and sad, too passive, self-righteous, superstitious and emotionally unstable, too conservative and old-fashioned, predictable and weak, unforgiving, aloof and frigid. It can also indicate manipulation, unfaithfulness and being untrustworthy

Turquoise is an interesting one! It’s the color of clarity of thought and communication. Also of mental healing, spirituality and self-control

Positive side: communication, clarity of thought, balance and harmony, idealism, calmness, creativity, compassion, healing and self-sufficiency

Negative side: boastfulness, secrecy, unreliability and reticence, fence-sitting, aloofness, deception and off-handedness
