Summer in Kyoto!! So Many Interesting Things to See!

It’s July already!
Half of this year has passed!
As soon as the rainy season started, the first typhoon of Reiwa year came, and heavy rain continues to pour all around Japan.
We hope that the rain won’t cause any disaster in Japan.

Also started from this month, the seasonal clothes is changed from from kimono to yukata!
By the way, the Tanabata Festival, Gion Festival, and other events are held this month in various places in Kyoto.

In Arashiyama, the summer feature “Arashiyama no Ukai” is being held from July 9th to September 23th on Ōi River (大堰川 Ōi-gawa) near Togetsukyo Bridge!
A female foreign fishermen is the highlight of the event this year (^ o ^)
What is Ukai?
The method of Ukai (Cormorant Fishing) is a traditional fishing technique using aquatic birds.
With the lighting from the flames of a bonfire, the fishermen controls the birds with cords.
We really recommend you to see it!
It may be a unique experience for you.

And at Tenryu-ji Temple, Lotus will be in full bloom until the end of July!
In other parts of Kyoto, there will be Tanabata light up decoration from July 1st August 15th at Kifune Shrine.
There is Tanabata Festival at the Jishu Shrine, Shiramine Shrine too!
And last but not least, there is Gion Festival, which is known as one of the three major festivals in Japan!
Street stalls will line up from July 14th to 16th, and Junkō parade will take place on the 17th!
Hundreds of thousands of people from all over Japan are looking forward to see this event!

Sitting down on the restaurant’s outdoor seats are also one of Kyoto’s summer traditions.
The restaurant and the teahouse create a parlor where you can have your food while enjoying the beautiful view of the rivers from outdoors!
Until around September, you can enjoy it around Kamogawa, Kifune, and Takao!
Wherever you go, it is also a good experience to wear yukata and experience festivals, sightseeing and dining (^ ○ ^)
